Mark Twain (1835—1910) was an American writer, journalist, and publisher. Among his most famous novels are "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and its sequel, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." Most of his finest work includes many genres such as humor, satire, and philosophical fiction. "Roughing It" is a semi-autobiographical work that describes the travels of young Mark Twain through the Wild West during 1861—1867 along with his brother Orion Clemens. The book contains many adventures, including a visit to Salt Lake City, a journey to the Kingdom of Hawaii, and his beginnings as a writer. All with Twain's excellent sense of humor, which later would become one of the key features of his writing.
