In the book of candidate of Culturology at Constantine Frumkin attempts to identify the most common patterns of constructing stories dramatic works in the Western literary tradition, from Greek tragedy to the drama of the second half of the twentieth century. An attempt is made to create a General theory of dramatic plot, describe its basic properties (such as "transparency of causality"), identifies the most important invariants of leitmotifs and dramatic stories, repeated throughout the long history of Western drama. The concept of the author takes the perspective of the story as the research and presentation of deviant behavior (anomalies) observed in interpersonal relations, whereby the core of any dramatic story is to demonstrate the motivations of the characters to be abnormal, deviant behavior.
