Словарь состоит из двух частей (англо-русской и русско-английской) и содержит в сумме около 400 страниц (включая списки английских и русских сокращений), свыше 100 000 слов, более 5 000 статей, включающих порядка 50 000 терминов. Основными источниками для создания словаря явились: многолетний опыт работы автора по данным направлениям в международных, американских, европейских и российских комитетах, комиссиях, семинарах, конференциях, симпозиумах, опыт участия в международных космических экспериментах и оперативных работах по контролю аварий и падения на Землю обломков крупных космических объектов и консультации с российскими, американскими и другими зарубежными специалистами. Кроме того, в работе над словарем были использованы также труды и выходные материалы указанных международных форумов, а также некоторые научно-технические словари. Особенностью данного словаря является то, что он содержит множество новых терминов, появившихся в данных областях лишь в последние годы, еще не вошедших ни в какие известные сборники терминов, но активно используемых в общении специалистов различных стран, в том числе в совместных оперативных работах. Кроме нескольких миллионов ученых в мире, занятых в данной области, потребителями словаря должны стать и студенты вузов всего мира. Словарь двуязычный и, хотя он рассчитан прежде всего на русскоязычного потребителя, будет востребован и за рубежом.

This dictionary consists of two parts (English-Russian and Russian-English) and contains all in all about 400 pages (including the lists of English and Russian abbreviation), more than 100 000 words, over 5 000 items (about 50 000 terms included). The main sources for compiling the dictionary were the author’s long-term experience of collaboration in international, American, European, and Russian committees, commissions, workshops, conferences, symposia devoted to space subjects, the experience of participation in international space experiments and operational control of the space object crashes and reentering, as well as consultations with American, European, and Russian space experts. Besides, when working on the dictionary Proceedings of some international space forums were used. The peculiarity of the dictionary is that it contains a lot of new terms appeared in recent time absent from any other dictionaries though they are actively used by dedicated experts. Besides some millions of scientists working in space and space-related industries the consumers of this dictionary may be also students engaged or just interested in these spheres.
