Настоящая монография посвящена исследованию феномена "другости" в современной культуре. Образ Другого приобрел особое значение в (пост)современном академическом дискурсе, а также в самых разных формах популярной культуры. В работе проанализированы основные теоретические подходы к "другости", а также выделены типы Другого, ставшие главным источником репрезентации в вербальных и экранных текстах. При рассмотрении того или иного вида Другого вначале освещаются современные теории, в которых анализируются связанные с этим Другим проблемы культуры и общества, а затем приводятся примеры из области различных литературных и экранных жанров, содержащие репрезентации Другого, которые показывают, каким образом эти репрезентации формируют образ Другого в общественном сознании.
This monograph is dedicated to research into the phenomenon of “otherness” in modern culture. The image of the Other has special significance in (post)modern theoretical discourse as well as in different forms of popular culture. The main theoretic approaches to “otherness” are analyzed in this book and the main types of the Other which became the source of representation in verbal and screenplays are regarded. While analyzing a certain type of the Other first attention is given to contemporary theories dealing with problems of culture and society connected with this Other and then examples are given from different literary and cinematic genres which show how these representations form the image of the Other in mass consciousness.
