Сборник включает в себя материалы выступлений участников "круглого стола" на тему "Социально-экономические и политические процессы на постсоветском пространстве", который проходил в Москве 13 декабря 2006 г. в Отделении международных экономических и политических исследований Института экономики РАН (ОМЭПИ ИЭ РАН). В обсуждении приняли участие представители академической и отраслевой науки, высшей школы, эксперты Государственной Думы, ведущих аналитических центров Российской Федерации и стран СНГ.
В сборнике рассматриваются основные проблемы развития политики Российской Федерации на постсоветском пространстве. Особое внимание уделяется российско-белорусским отношениям, причинам неудач создания Союза России и Белоруссии. Наряду с этим большое внимание уделяется рассмотрению внешней политики и социально-экономического положения отдельных стран СНГ, проблемам национальной безопасности стран Центральной Азии.

The collection includes materials of the participants of the "round table" on the theme "Socio-economic and political processes in the former Soviet Union", which took place in Moscow on 13 December 2006 at the Department of international economic and political studies of the Institute of Economics (IE RAS omapi). The discussion was attended by representatives of the academic and branch science, the higher school, experts of the State Duma of the leading analytical centers of the Russian Federation and CIS countries.
The book discusses basic problems of development of the Russian Federation policy in the post-Soviet space. Special attention is paid to the Russian-Belarusian relations, the causes of failures creation of the Union of Russia and Belarus.
