Первая российская книга о выдающемся польском театральном режиссере Леоне Шиллере (1887--1954) открывает многие совершенно новые для читателя, неизвестные страницы его творчества. Прослеживая все этапы богатой событиями биографии Шиллера --- человека и художника, книга хронологически охватывает полстолетия: всю первую половину ХХ века. The first Russian book about the eminent Polish theatre Director Leon Schiller (1887--1954) opens a completely new to the reader, the unknown pages of his work. Tracing all the stages of an eventful biography of Schiller's --- man and artist, the book chronologically covers half a century: the first half of the twentieth century. The author first introduces the scientific and critical turnover detailed description and analysis of the best performances that a Director, largely based on previously unknown to our reader's judgment of Schiller, and the opinions of witnesses, contemporaries and critics.
Leon Schiller, a scholar and innovator, was one of the originators of big ideas and original forms of contemporary Polish scene. Embodying the dreams, plans, projects of Polish romantics --- "prophets" (Adam Mickiewicz, Zygmunt Krasinski, Stanislaw Wyspianski Museum), Schiller created the concept of a Monumental theatre. His productions are old and naive theatre ("Theatre of the procession") left a lasting impression in the Polish art. Its acute stage sensation ("the Threepenny Opera" by Brecht, "Roar, China!" S. Tretyakov) has been deprived of restful sleep for both the government and audiences in many cities of Poland. His psychological deepening in Dostoyevsky created a unique and first of its ensemble cast. The description of all these scenic achievements of the Leon Schiller (as well as his no less instructive "disasters") is the content of this book.
