French and Walloon artist Pierre-Joseph Redoute was born 10 July 1759 in Saint-Hubert. Nicknamed "the Raphael of flowers", it has become one of the most famous European artists, who painted flowers, especially famous for watercolors of roses. Redoubt has experienced several political regimes. He collaborated with the greatest botanists of his time and participated in the publication of over fifty books. As court painter to Marie Antoinette, the Redoubt wrote in its order the gardens of the Small Trianon. During the French revolution and the terror was appointed official artist of the gardens, designated a national treasure.
