"Стальной волосок" - это книга о жизни нескольких поколений детей сибирского городка Турени. Она состоит из трех романов: "Бриг "Артемида"", "Гваделорка" и "Бабочка на штанге".
У героев последнего романа "Бабочка на штанге" те же проблемы, что и у большинства современных подростков. Они учатся в школе, конфликтуют с учителями, не всегда ладят с родителями. Но у них чуткие души и верные сердца, неравнодушные к творящемуся в мире злу. Они пытаются своими, ребячьими способами восстановить нарушенное "поле доброты" или, как говорит один из героев, "разломать хотя бы один жестокий дисбаланс" - с помощью доброго поступка, маленькой радости, доставленной другому, или же просто улыбки.
