"Динка прощается с детством" является продолжением известной автобиографической повести В. А. Осеевой "Динка". Действие в первой книге относится к периоду после революции 1905 года. Вторая книга знакомит читателей с судьбой Динки, ее друга Лёни и других героев в годы Первой мировой войны. Повесть насыщена драматическими событиями, в которых самое деятельное участие принимает Динка. В характере героини многое еще осталось от Динки-девочки, но она уже серьезнее всматривается в жизнь, и доброе сердце ее мужает.
