В данной монографии, публикуемой впервые, прослеживаются процессы европеизации русской архитектуры и градостроительства: от обновлений последней четверти XVII века к петровским начинаниям. Это и определило темы двух основных частей исследования - Москва накануне перемен и Москва петровская. Наряду с историческими, социокультурными, эстетическими и стилевыми аспектами этого переходного периода последовательно рассматриваются процессы формообразования - от предрегулярности к петровскому "регулярству" в градостроительной среде Москвы и в архитектурных типологиях, имеющих отношение к Новому времени. Делаются выводы о значении этого опыта для дальнейших перемен, приведших к появлению такого качественно нового явления, как Петербург.

This book, published for the first time traced the process of Europeanization of Russian architecture and town planning: updates from the last quarter of the seventeenth century to the Petrine endeavors. This determined the theme of the two main parts of the study - Moscow on the eve of change Moscow and Peter. Along with the historical, socio-cultural, aesthetic and stylistic aspects of this transition period, consistently focuses on the processes of morphogenesis - from preregulatory to Petrovsky "regularity" in the urban environment of Moscow and the architectural typologies of relevance to the New time. Conclusions are made about the value of this experience for further change, leading to the emergence of such a qualitatively new phenomenon, as Saint Petersburg.
