Настоящее исследование посвящено сопоставительному изучению переводов одного из самых знаменитых произведений выдающегося позднеримского мыслителя Боэция "Утешение философией" на старофранцузский ("Li Livres de Confort" Жана де Мёна) и среднеанглийский ("Boece" Джеффри Чосера) языки. Отношения преемственности, связывающие среднеанглийский перевод Чосера со старофранцузским "Li Livres de Confort", рассматриваются и интерпретируются с учетом историко-культурных процессов, оказавших влияние на развитие французского и английского языков в эпоху Средневековья.

The present study focuses on the contrastive study of translations one of the most famous works by the distinguished late Roman philosopher Boethius "Consolation of philosophy" in old French ("Li Livres de Confort" Jean de MENA) and middle English ("Boece", Geoffrey Chaucer). The relationship of continuity linking the middle English translation of Chaucer from the old French "Li Livres de Confort", considered and interpreted taking into account the historical and cultural processes that influenced the development of French and English languages in the middle Ages.
